National Express West Midlands, the main bus operator in Frankley and Great Park, has announced the latest stage of it’s consultation on the future of bus travel in south Birmingham; it follows an earlier survey which it undertook last July about passing bus use.The current consultation features detailed proposals about possible bus route changes and I would strongly urge you to submit your views as some of the proposed ideas may affect you, your family and friends.
“Our review is necessary for two main reasons. First, traffic congestion is slowing the network down. Second, we want to make sure the network is enabling the journeys our current and new customers want. We are working closely with Transport for West Midlands and Birmingham City Council to help overcome some of the delays seen on the network. This includes new initiatives on traffic light optimisation, bus lane enforcement and new bus lanes at key hotspots on the network.” – National Express West Midlands.
The bus operator is offering two ways for you to view the proposals in full and provide feedback. You can go online to nxbus.co.uk/west-midlands/news and search for “South Birmingham Bus Consultation” or you can visit your local libraries where paper copies of the consultation are being made available to the public.
A closing date has not been announced yet. However, I suggest that you take the opportunity to provide your views as soon as possible.
