I press for Action on the Great Park Pot Holes as Birmingham City Council’s Highways Contract with Amey is axed for ‘poor performance’.
In late June I was out with our new highways officer to show him the gigantic potholes around Great Park that have been neglected for far too long. We then went for a drive around the estate to see problematic hedges and vegetation, before taking a look at the work being done on Lower Beeches Road, which is finally getting a layer of tarmac after much delay. He is local, experienced and quite keen, so I feel quite optimistic that the job will get done this time. I’ll be back out with him again over the summer for an update.
Highways Contract axed for ‘poor performance’.
Birmingham City Council will axe its 25 year road maintenance contract with Amey after only nine years. Pot holes have been in a huge state of disrepair across Frankley, most notably with huge pot holes across Great Park that have failed to be repaired despite being chased. A sub contractor will be found for an interim period and it could take up to two years to hire a permanent replacement. Hopefully the service will begin to improve too.
