Binmen continue to neglect Frankley
It’s been one year since I was elected to represent you, and I’ll never forget the ITV news interview: “Do you feel the bin strike of 2017 helped your campaign”
I responded “Bin strike!? Ha! The bins have always been terrible in Frankley!!”
In September I stood up at city council and challenged the cabinet member, over this, threatening to take action.
Later, I compliained about Gannon Manor always being missed; they actually resolved this, but only to miss out the entirety of the Royals next to it!
It is clear as day, that the council’s bin service is simply not fit for purpose, despite Labour telling us that it is!
It’s been 700 days between the unions first filing of industrial action over the Council plans to reform the service, and the supposed end of the latest strike, during which the Council has faced two heavy defeats at the cost of over £15m.
Labour promised to make resolving the bins their number 1 priority. Almost two year on; all they have achieved is waste yet more millions of tax payers money and put residents at further risk of action.
While I can critique my own government for failing to negotiate a Brexit deal, the Labour Party can’t even negotiate a decent bin policy …what a disgrace.
BIN STRIKE FACTS:
COUNCIL PAID BINMEN £5,000 EACH TO SETTLE THE DISPUTE.
To settle the dispute, the Labour run Council has paid out £5,000 (£3,500 NETT) to each striking bin worker, this all happened because it’s believed that secret payments were made to another union during the 2017 strike.
COUNCIL TAX PAYERS NOT OFFERED COMPENSATION!
Birmingham Conservatives ran another campaign to issue residents with compensation. But the Labour administration has choose to ignore this and instead increased your Council tax by another 5% this year.
LABOUR COUNCILLORS WERE FUNDED DIRECTED BY UNION.
Some Labour Councillors received funding for their 2018 election campaigns directly from the unite union! How can they represent Council tax payers fairly, when they’re in the pockets of the same unions, that held the Council and it’s citizens to ransom!?
