In July I had to sit through a Labour motion on food banks. Rather than offer support or think of any radical solutions to the underlying causes of poverty. Labour spent hours virtue signalling and grand-standing about how nasty the Tories are.
As somebody who was raised on an estate, I found the whole thing incredibly patronising. Seeing middle class Labour Councillors, who have probably never experienced poverty in thier lives, talking about poverty, with their only solution being to expand a failed system that traps people in poverty… you couldn’t write it.
One Councillor even repeated the widely debunked claim that a million children will lose free school meals, when in actual fact 50,000 MORE children now qualify! Even though Channel 4 had already done an independent fact check on this and called Labour out for lying before the election.
Once again, facts mean nothing to the Labour party, who would rather exploit the poor for political gain then think creative.
